The Kia Seltos is one of those rare vehicles that enjoyed instant success as soon as it hit the market. The Korean automaker's small SUV made its Canadian debut in 2020 as a 2021 model. Despite its strong start, the model's popularity has continued to grow ever since, bringing us to where we are today.

For the 2027 model year, the Kia Seltos has been completely redesigned, and this is no minor update. Kia decided to go with a radical transformation rather than a simple evolution for this new generation. However, the lines of the new Seltos are not entirely unfamiliar, as it borrows styling cues from several other models in the brand's lineup, including the EV9 and Telluride. Its new truck-like appearance and proportions are sure to turn heads. This new generation has a lot to offer, and the 2027 Seltos could very well enjoy another strong start.

The 2027 Kia Seltos lineup consists of several variants, with starting prices ranging from $31,701.50 for the entry-level LX FWD to $44,501.50 for the X-Line Limited. In between, there is the LX at $33,701.50, the EX at $36,701.50, the EX Premium at $40,001.50, and the X-Line at $42,501.50. Needless to say, there is something for every budget.

On paper, the Kia Seltos is a subcompact SUV, but in reality, it offers many qualities that allow it to compete with most compact models as well. It is comfortable, versatile, and very spacious for its class.

I really like the design of the 2027 Kia Seltos. The designers have done an excellent job of giving it a look that is both rugged and sophisticated. The orange lighting is part of the brand's new design signature. As a bonus, the Korean automaker's small SUV gets stunning, bold wheels along with a colour palette featuring shades inspired by nature.

The cabin features a modern dashboard with a 30-inch display for the digital instrumentation. The ergonomics have been well thought out, and the seats are very comfortable. The Kia Seltos offers 64-colour ambient lighting, further enhancing the overall experience. It also comes packed with advanced technologies such as a digital key and wireless charging for compatible devices.

Performance

The 2027 Kia Seltos offers three powertrain options, starting with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a CVT, while all-wheel drive is available as an option.

Next is a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive comes standard.

For 2027, the Seltos is now also available with a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a total output of 154 or 178 horsepower, depending on the configuration.
